It\u2019s acidic, which means it can wear down the protective enamel on your teeth. On top of that, it contains tannins which can stain them. Though you might enjoy your morning brew every day of the year, it\u2019s tempting to add some festive flair by including peppermint or other wintery flavors which usually also come with plenty of sugar. Unfortunately, this attracts unhealthy bacteria that contribute to tooth decay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Drink #2: Hot Chocolate<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you thought you could save your teeth by switching from coffee to hot cocoa, you wouldn\u2019t really be doing yourself any favors. Chocolate typically has a high sugar content which can lead to cavities. To add insult to injury, it also contains chromogens which are pigment-producing substances that can cling to your teeth and cause discoloration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Drink #3: Wine<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s common to be offered a glass of wine at gatherings with friends and family. You might already be avoiding red wine because you\u2019ve noticed it leaves your grin looking ruddy. Like coffee, wine contains tannins that can stain your pearly whites. You\u2019re not safe with white wine, though. It has the same ingredients and can leave your teeth looking splotchy. They can erode the protective out layer of your teeth and can result in tooth sensitivity, so while it\u2019s probably okay to have some occasionally, you don\u2019t want to overdo it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If it\u2019s too hard to avoid all these popular culprits, remember that the less you expose your teeth to unhealthy ingredients, the better.
